Beowulf’s hall Heorot reconstructed at Sagnlandet Lejre

In this video, I am talking about Sagnlandet Lejre, the experimental open-air museum of Danish pre-history just outside of Copenhagen. Lejre is known as a center of royal power in Iron Age and Viking Age Denmark in multiple sources. On the grounds, archaeologists have been experimenting with multiple facets of the distant past, including animal sacrifices. You can visit an Iron Age village there and also go see a sacrificial bog, an Ice Age hunter’s hut and many more things. The most exciting recent development at Lejre is the reconstruction of the hall Heorot known from the Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf. Click the image below and watch the video!
